For full flight images, the horizontal display interval can vary depending on the length of the flight and for subsample images, the horizontal display interval is always constant. Vertical scales are consistent on all full flight and subsample images. Color scales do not change between images for ozone mixing ratio, aerosol scattering ratio, aerosol depolarization, and aerosol wavelength dependence. Logarithmic scales are used for the aerosol scattering ratio images to optimize display of aerosol features. Ozone mixing ratios and aerosol scattering ratios are calculated from the DIAL measurements and modeled molecular densities.
Resolution of UV-DIAL Image data are:
Vertical averaging interval Ozone below a/c altitude: 300 meters above a/c altitude: 600 meters
Horizontal averaging interval Aerosol 10 seconds, or approximately 2.3 km. Ozone 3 minutes, or approximately 42.0 km.Times on the images are Universal Time (UT).
