Information Regarding NAMMA LASE Images

NAMMA LASE IMAGES

The horizontal display interval of the full flight images depends on the length of the flight. Both nadir and zenith data may be imaged separately or together, with a black trace appearing at the aircraft altitude. Aerosol data are reported as Atmospheric Scattering Ratios on both a linear and logarithmic scale. Water Vapor data are reported as mixing ratios (g/kg) on a Linear scale only..

Resolution of NAMMA LASE Image data are:

VERTICAL RESOLUTION:

Vertical averaging interval
    Aerosol 60 meters
Water Vapor 330 meters

Vertical display interval for averaged data
    Aerosol 60 meters
Water Vapor 30 meters

HORIZONTAL RESOLUTION:

Horizontal averaging interval
Aerosol 6.0 seconds, or approximately 1.4 kilometers

Water Vapor 180 seconds, or approximately 42 kilometers

Horizontal display interval for averaged data other than full flight images
Aerosol 6.0 seconds or approximately 1.4 kilometers

Water Vapor 6.0 seconds or approximately 1.4 kilometers

Times on the images are Universal Time (UT).

For those images that span 00 UT, the dates refer to the start date of the image.

Images have annotation (letters) for certain times. These annotations are at the times associated with the DC-8. The "C" annotations are when the DC-8 track passed above the ARM/CART Central Facility and the "H" anotations are when the DC-8 track passed above Homestead.
